Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda (commune of the Pyrénées-Orientales département in France|département in southeastern France. Population (1999): 3,475.
The town, formerly called Arles-les-Bains, was renamed Amélie-les-Bains after Marie Amalie of Bourbon-Sicilies|Queen Amelia wife of Louis-Philippe of France|Louis Philippe. In Catalan language|Catalan it is still called Els banys d'Arles.

Amélie-les-Bains-Palalda is located at the junction of the Mondony with the Tech River|Tech, 28f m. S.S.W. of Perpignan by rail. The town is situated at a height of 770 ft. and has both a winter and summer season.
In the winter season the average temperature is about 10 Degrees Celsius, and in the summer it is roughly 29 Degrees Celsius. Thunderstorms are not infrewuent in the area, and the tell tale signs are small showers throughout the day.
The town has numerous sulfur|sulphur springs (68-i45 F.) used as baths by sufferers from rheumatism and maladies of the lungs. There are two bathing establishments, one of which preserves remains of Roman baths, and a large military thermal hospital.
