Anglet (Gascon Anglet) is a région. It is in the traditional Northern Basque Country|Basque province of Labourd.
Unusually for French, the final ‘t’ of the town’s name is pronounced, i.e. .
The townspeople are known as Angloys.
Geography
The river Adour enters the Atlantic Ocean|Atlantic between here and Tarnos.
A pine forest covers 10% of the town (primarily in the Pignada, Lazaret and Chiberta areas).
The sandy coast which commences 200 km to the North at the Pointe de Grave, the end of the Gironde estuary, ends here. Numerous dikes mark the Anglet shoreline.
