Figeac (also known as Fijac) is a town in the Lot (département)|Lot départements of France|département in Quercy, Midi-Pyrénées, southwestern France.

Figeac is commune in France|commune and a sous-préfecture of the Lot département.

Culture

Jean-François Champollion the first translator of the Egyptian hieroglyphs|hieroglyphics was born in Figeac where there is a Champollion Museum. On the "Place des écritures" (writings place) is a giant copy of the Rosetta stone, by Joseph Kosuth. Louis Malle's 1974 film, Lucien Lacombe, is set there, with the time being 1944.

The actor Charles Boyer was born in Figeac.
