The Bode valley is also called the “Grand Canyon” because of its unique natural landscape, which is a haven for biologists and geologists. The nearby town of Wernigerode (the ”colourful city” of the Harz region) has a beautiful castle, city hall and charming city centre. Quedlinburg has unique timbered houses. The train ”Harzer Schmalspurbahn” takes you to the highest mountain in the North, the Brocken, while those interested in history and culture can visit the local mineries.
