Bad Lippspringe: Guide


Bad Lippspringe is a town and a municipality in the district of Paderborn (district)|Paderborn, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is situated on the western slope of the Teutoburger Wald, approx. 10 km north-east of Paderborn. Population (2005) 15,211. The springs, the Arminius spring and the Liborius spring, for which it is famous, are saline waters of a temperature of 70 °F, and are utilized both for bathing and drinking in cases of pulmonary consumption. The river Lippe River|Lippe has its source in Bad Lippspringe.

Lippspringe is mentioned in chronicles as early as the 9th century, and here in the 13th century the order of the Knights Templar|Templars established a stronghold. It received civic rights about 1400.
