Bernburg: Guide

Bernburg is a town in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany, capital of the Bernburg (district)|district Bernburg. It is situated on the river Saale, approx. 40 km south of Magdeburg. The town is dominated by its Renaissance castle with a (modernized) bear pit. During the Nazi Germany|Nazi era, its mental hospital was part of the T-4 Euthanasia Program.

Bernburg is also the seat of the Verwaltungsgemeinschaft ("collective municipality") Bernburg, which consists of the following municipalities (population in 2005 between brackets):
