Haar: Guide


There are several meanings of Haar:

Haar, Bavaria, a municipality near Munich, Germany
a Hungarian mathematician named Alfred Haar (1885 - 1933). He has the Haar wavelet, and a set-theoretic measure, the Haar measure, named after him
Haar-like features (so called because they are computed similar to the coefficients in Haar wavelet transforms)
a Scots language|Scots word for the fog or sea mist occurring along the east coast of Scotland
