Weinheim (also known as Weinheim an der Bergstrasse in German or Weinheim (Bergstrasse)) is a town in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, approximately 15 km north of Heidelberg and 10 km northeast of Mannheim.


Get in


(IC, RE, RB) travel from Frankfurt (40–60 min), Darmstadt (20 min), Heidelberg ((12–20 min)), and Mannheim (20 min). The tram 5/5R does the loop between Heidelberg (currently 50 min owing to roadworks), Mannheim (35 min), and Weinheim in both directions.

The Kerwe festival in August (2006 date: Friday 11.08.2006 to Monday 14.08.2006) is the annual celebration of the anniversary of the consecration of the church, but really just a party during which the Marktplatz is crowded, and lanterns are lit in the Schlosspark.

A few shops are on Bahnhofstrasse, but you will find more if you follow this into the center of town and walk along the Hauptstrasse (main street).

Regie cocktail bar, Hauptstrasse 108 (slightly down a side street just past Müller). All cocktails, baguettes and flamkuchen are named after movies and movie stars.
The Hausbrauerei, Friedrichstr. 23, brew their own beer and serve hearty German meals.

On the Marktplatz you can find:
La Cave, Marktplatz 1. German and Mediterranean cuisine. Open between March to October from 10 am, otherwise from 6 pm
Café Florian, Marktplatz 8, . Tapas is a specialty here.
Montmartre

In summer, enjoy a beer in the Beer Garden in the ruins of Castle Windeck, up the hill to west of the town. You'll be ready for a beer after the walk up. Open Tuesdays to Sundays in fine weather from 5 pm, and on Sundays and public holidays from 10 am.

Those wanting to party till late, should head to the Unicum, Hauptstrasse 107, which is open 7 pm to 2 am (3 am on weekends).
