Legnano: Guide
Legnano is a city in northern Italy, northwest of Milan, with a population of roughly 56,000.
History
It was scene of defeat of Emperor Frederick I by the Lombard League in 1176. See Battle of Legnano.
Main sights
The Basilica of San Magno (early 16th century). The interior, on the Greek cross plan, contains an altar by Bernardino Luini which it is said to have been begun by Bramante.

Trivia
Together with Rome, Legnano is the only other city mentioned in the Il Canto degli Italiani|Italian national anthem by Goffredo Mameli.
