Palaia is a Italian region Tuscany, located about 45 km southwest of Florence and about 30 km southeast of Pisa. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 4,552 and an area of 73.5 km2.All demographics and other statistics: Italian statistical institute Istat.

The municipality of Palaia contains the frazione (subdivision) Forcoli.

Palaia borders the following municipalities: Capannoli, Montaione, Montopoli in Val d'Arno, Peccioli, Pontedera, San Miniato.
