Rivabella: Guide

Rivabella was an Italy|Italian shooting|shooter. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Rivabella competed in the military rifle event. His time and place in the competition are unknown, but he was not among the top 13 of the 42 shooters that competed.

An important presence

This athlete is very important because his presence is proof that Italy competed at the first Olympic Games. Due to the refusal of Carlo Airoldi's request to participate, it was widely thought that Italy had no representatives. New sources, however, have revealed this new figure.

In any case, this athlete still remains very enigmatic because we know only the surname and the competition and nothing else. Other sources don't confirm the participation of a "Rivabella" in Italy in other competitions except some fencing matches. Notwithstanding that fact, one should consider that many of participants were amateurs and, as such, would cause this search of other competitions external to the First Olympics to have no results.
