Andújar: Guide


Andújar (the ancient Illiturgi, actual Andújar), a town of southern Spain, in the province of Jaén Province, Spain|Jaén; on the right bank of the river Guadalquivir and the Madrid-Córdoba, Spain|Córdoba railway. Pop. (2005) 38.539.

Andújar is widely known for its porous earthenware jars, called botijos, which keep water cool in the hottest weather, and are manufactured from a whitish clay found in the neighbourhood.

Best party: Romería de la Virgen de la Cabeza, celebrated the last weekend of April.
