Sargans: Guide

Sargans is a locality in Switzerland.

Located in the northeastern Swiss canton of St. Gallen, Sargans is well-known for its castle, which has an age preceding the founding of the Swiss Confederation in 1291.

Transportation-wise, Sargans is an important regional node. The A3 (Switzerland)|A3 national motorway ends at Sargans; the portion north toward St. Margrethen and the portion east toward Landquart, Chur, San Bernardino, California|San Bernardino and ultimately Bellinzona are all part of the A13 (Switzerland)|A13 national motorway. Trains heading north toward St. Gallen, east toward Chur and Ticino, and toward Austria, all pass through Sargans. Buses heading toward Liechtenstein also leave Sargans.
