Carrbridge is a village in Badenoch and Strathspey, Highland, Scotland. It is about 10 km north of Aviemore, and is part of the Cairngorms National Park.
In the 2001 census the village had a population of 708 people. The majority of the people in the village are employed in Tourism in Scotland|tourism. The village was an early centre for skiing in Scotland. The A9 road passes by close to the village, and it is served by Carrbridge railway station on the Highland Main Line.
There has been a Boys' Brigade campsite in the village for many years. Monifieth B.B. have been camping there for 20 years.
There is one Spar shop. "so near, so Spar" For all your daily messages.
Landmark Heritage Centre which is situated in the village, has a variety of water slides and is good for alround woodland fun.
Carrbridge also has an old bridge. It is now unstable and not to be jumped off (merely admired from afar). Jumping off the bridge had long been a popular past time for the younger locals.
The name Carrbridge is now under dispute as some of the locals would now like to hyphenate it (Carr-bridge). Obviously they are having some trouble differentiating the two words. Carr incidentally does not mean car but is gaelic for boggy area.
If your a golfer, Carrbridge has a nice 9 hole golf course.
