YMCA Camp Coniston is situated on Lake Coniston (Long Pond), in Croydon New Hampshire. It is located on the former site of Camp Interlaken for Girls. In 1964 the YMCA of New Hampshire purchased the site from the Dudley family of Hanover, New Hampshire and moved their operations from nearby Rand's Pond in Goshen, NH. Presently, many children and grandchildren of alumni of both Soangetaha and Interlaken continue to attend the camp.
The camp encompases more than 1400 acres and owns the entire shore line of the lake making it one of the outstanding camp sites in North America. Its programs are also well known with one of the highest retention rates of campers known.
When the YMCA moved to its present location in 1964,“we thought we had found the most beautiful place on earth.” In 1969, the camp’s name officially changed from Soangetaha to Coniston, and decades of tradition and excellence were continued. Since 1911 Coniston has created experiences where campers learn canoeing & swimming, fire building & knots, archery & riflery, and drama & the arts. But camp is much more than that.
