Stepps: Guide

Stepps is a town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, on the north-eastern outskirts of Glasgow. It had a population of 4,802 according to the 2001 census.

History

Originally part of the Stepps in 1924.

Transport

Stepps has served as a bedroom community|commuter town for Glasgow, which is a short journey from its centre by train on Strathclyde Partnership for Transport|SPT's Cumbernauld Line, or by the A80 road. The town was bypassed by the southern section of the M80 motorway in 1992; that section of motorway is still referred to locally as the Stepps Bypass (road)|Bypass.
