Washingborough: Guide


Washingborough is a small village three miles east of the city of Lincoln, Lincolnshire|Lincoln on the lower slopes of the limestone escarpment known as the Lincoln Edge where the River Witham breaks through the Lincoln Edge.

It is the point on the River Witham at which the Fens begin.

The Fens were first drained by the Roman Empire|Romans. The Roman Car Dyke ran from Washingborough to the river Nene, near Peterborough.

There are three local pubs in the village, The Royal Oak, The Ferryboat and the Hunters Leap. The Ferryboat have two local football teams which include Boro Park Rangers.
